Vetsolt, the family company that is gaining space in the Ecuadorian market representing veterinary products from Biocidas Biodegradable ZIX, BBZIX. Hand in hand with BBZIX products and their application in field tests, Vetsolt has managed to change the paradigm of the Ecuadorian market and introduce innovative and environmentally friendly products that support companies in ensuring Biosafety and improving their production.
How was Vetsolt born?
Vetsolt is a company dedicated to importing and commercializing veterinary products for the poultry, pork and livestock sectors in Ecuador. This family business was born in 2015 and is made up of three brothers: Andrea Rios; Juan Carlos Rios and Maria Augusta Rios.
Andrea, General Manager, is a veterinarian with a master’s degree in Environmental Management and Auditing. Juan Carlos, Sales Manager, veterinarian with a diploma in Swine Production, has vast experience in the area, 10 years in Broilers and 2 years in pigs. María Augusta, Financial Manager, Commercial Engineer MBA with Specialization in International Business
The specialty of each one has allowed Andrea and Juan Carlos to develop the technical area of the company, while Maria Augusta leads the financial area of Vetsolt
When did you start working with BBZIX Products and which are the ZIX products that you?
We have been working with BBZIX since January 2019. The most popular product is AQUAZIX PLUS, an intestinal sanitizer and water sanitizer. We are also working with: ZIX VIROX, a state-of-the-art disinfectant, 100% biodegradable, with a broad spectrum of action against all types of microorganisms; and LITAZIX, a drying and sanitizing agent for piglets.
The new product that came to us is the concentrated alkaline detergent CLEAN ZIX, we are getting to know it through tests, but backed up by BBZIX we are sure that the products are totally reliable and have guaranteed quality. We are in the process of registering more BBZIX products, they have a very wide catalogue.
What is your market share in Ecuador?
We are a young company that is just starting, so we have been in the market for a short time. Our main office is in Quito and thanks to the favorable reception, our sales area has expanded to the provinces of Cotopaxi, Tungurahua, Chimborazo and Imbabura. There we have focused our efforts. At this moment we are looking for distributors within the country to diversify into other areas.
Are you diversifying for your brand?
Yes, for the Vetsolt brand we are relying on companies that have internationally recognized standards.
Even though you are short term, what is your market share?
We are just starting out in the market, but we are making steady progress, gaining a good position in the country.
Could you give us the production data?
Number of direct and indirect jobs you provide. Currently, we are working in our company, the three brothers always sheltered by the experience of my father, who has almost 40 years of experience in the area of poultry and pig farming. In addition, we have the collaboration of 5 people who work with us.

How important do you think biosecurity is in poultry farming?
Biosecurity is the key to preventing and avoiding the entry of pathogens that can affect the birds’ health, welfare and zootechnical performance
How important is the quality of the drinking water we offer our animals?
Water, as a nutrient, is the most important thing in the birds’ diet. To avoid the entrance of microorganisms that cause disease we recommend using AQUAZIX PLUS which improves the intestinal health and hygiene of the water, so we are ensuring a good immune system.
How does the Ecuadorian producer perceived BBZIX products?
BBZIX products have been very well received in Ecuador. They are innovative products for hygiene and disinfection; totally biodegradable and respectful of the environment, which has allowed us to help our clients improve their production.
What do you think of the products offered by BBZIX?
They are innovative products, with certified quality, with a very important international support, they are bio-degradable products. That is our vision, to have environmentally friendly products.
Why would you recommend the use of AQUAZIX PLUS in drinking water in poultry houses?
Because: Improves the digestive health of the farm, Improves the microbiological quality of the water, Decreases the use of pharmacological therapies, Minimal post-vaccinal reactions, Eliminates Salmonella at high doses (150cc).
What precautions should be taken the first time the product is used?
The precaution we always give to the poultry farmer is to drain nipples or drinkers because the pipe will be full of biofilm and there will be a removal.
We always recommend that you drain, so that the birds do not ingest the bacteria from the biofilm.
The other precaution is to have the necessary safeguards when handling the products, to care for hands and eyes use gloves and goggles.
What key data would you suggest?
Better intestinal health provided by correct drinking water treatment strengthens the immune system both at the intestinal and general level of the birds. The use of AQUAZIX PLUS is intended as an alternative to the use of antibiotics on the farm. Handle adequate doses, although in the case of AQUAZIX PLUS the safety margin is extremely wide, 20 times more than the recommended dose.
The products offered by BBZIX are innovative, with certified quality, with a very important international support, they are bio-degradable products. That is our vision, to have environmentally friendly products
Regarding ZIX VIROX, what would you highlight about this product?
ZIX VIROX, is a synergistic combination of peroxides, peracetic acid, organic acids, stabilizers and surfactants. It does not create resistance, 100% biodegradable. We use it both in the disinfection of livestock facilities and in slaughterhouses to extend the life of the carcasses.
We have carried out tests in one of the largest companies in Ecuador and it has shown three to five more days of useful life, that is a lot of money for the producer.
We are doing tests in other companies based on the results of the abovementioned experience.
ZIX VIROX can also be used as a pipe cleaner, it releases all the biofilm found in the pipes, giving better results for production in poultry farming.
We recommend ZIX VIROX for cleaning pipes when the sheds are empty, without the presence of animals.
Would you recommend the use of ZIX VIROX as a product to ensure complete and effective disinfection against coccidiosis?
ZiXVIROX due to its excellent anticoccidial activity in the presence of organic matter, is the disinfectant of choice for cutting the transmission of oocysts through a faecal-oral route.
Apply 250 ml per square meter of surface. Make this application in the soil and in the first 50m of the wall; leave it for 15 minutes without rinsing.
Are there products that guarantee this level of hygiene on pig and poultry farms?
We recommend cleaning and disinfecting with CLEAN ZIX concentrated alkaline detergent and ZIXVIROX, next generation disinfectant.
What does the quantity of LITAZIX product to be applied depend on, depending on the species in question? What dose does each one need?
In Ecuador, we are using LITAZIX in piglet nurseries.
It is a drying agent used for piglets during the first hours of their life. It increases the body heat, it is healing, it is sanitizing.
Moreover, we are using it in gestation pens, it gives us very good results, one kilo of LITAZIX absorbs 2.5 litres of water, it is a bed dryer that has no competition in Ecuador
What is the importance of cleaning and disinfection for the future production yields of the farms?
The main point is biosecurity, it’s all there.
If you do a good cleaning and disinfection, you will surely have very good results, but it is 70% of all bio-security, which comes with handling, but cleaning and disinfection is the most important thing, whether in pig farming or poultry farming.
We recommend to carry out an effective cleaning and disinfection with CLEAN ZIX and ZIXVIROX
What are your plans for the future of Vetsolt?
We are starting, with firm steps, our projects are to continue registering more products from both BBZIX, a company that is gaining a recognized position in the Ecuadorian market, and the other companies we represent.
Our vision is to be recognized nationally and internationally as a leading company in the livestock sector, with innovative, environmentally friendly products for both production animals and pets.
